No need anymore to use Pi4B as ethernet gadget of Pi400 that worked as well (thanks to well pinned guide): My wifi account only allows for 1 device to login, with Pi400 being wireless repeater all devices will get internet without issues. Next step is to setup the Pi400 as wireless repeater utilizing the now unused internal Pi400 Wifi for the Pi4Bs, Pi0 and smartphone to connect. Thanks to 360°/90° external antenna connecting to the WLan router through 3 walls is no problem anymore, and says I can get 25.3Mbps with that. I followed the instructions for "Raspberry Pi OS" (really, was an existing section) and got the adapter working easily: The adapater has Chipset VID&PID 0bda:b812 (seen via "lsusb"), and yesterday I learned that it has no Linux kernel mainline support:īut there is partial support via building kernel driver for it. I wanted to use that to make one of my devices a wireless repeater, since at the current rehab hospital location Pi400 as well as Pi4B Wifi was not good enough (both next Wifi routers are behind 3 walls each, and only provide 5GHz wifi - at home I just connect to home router over 2.4GHz because that is better, but here there is no 2.4GHz to connect to). Just yesterday I received new USB3 Wifi adapterįor 5.77$ over amazon prime.
